The NHL trade deadline was the other day and it had the most action in NHL history. There was just one problem, a lack of blockbuster deals. I was very dissapointed with the ammount of excitement throughout the day. I was really hoping that my leafs would make a splash but all they did was trade there B line players for some draft picks and one prospect who shows some potential. Hopefully they will be able to really make something happen this off-season so we don't have a repeat of this year. The biggest deal of the day was Avalanch forward Wojtek Wolski moving to the Pheonix Coyotes for Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter, Now, if you aren't a hockey fan, this probably means nothing to you, and that is why I am so dissapointed with the lack of movement in big name players. I woke up in the morning excited to see how the league would change and what surprise teams could turn themselves into Stanley Cup contendors. The teams with the best moves were probably the Washington Capitals who really added some more depth to their lineup and the Pheonix Coyotes who have really shot up from under the radar. I'm excited for the playoff's and the stretch before is gonna be great. But the real excitement for me and my leafs is making something happen on draft day, throughout free agency, and then on into next season. Playoffs next year? I can only hope.
